EDITING SERVICES

A second pair of eyes can make all the difference. My goal as an editor is to safeguard your unique voice while offering honest critiques of your manuscript. I have been editing manuscripts for two years and have worked with many authors who are independently published.

The What

I focus on fiction editing for an adult, young adult, and young reader (think middle school) audience. Currently, I do not work on children’s chapter books or picture books.

My favorite genres include:

  • All fantasy genres of any spice level

  • Sci-fi (I can help with Intermediate-level general science if you are looking for help with accuracy. I am not a rocket scientist, so advanced fact-checking is not within my wheelhouse. However, general believability or the suspension of disbelief is within my capability.)

  • Contemporary romance of any spice level

  • Action/thriller (I am not a great fit for horror.)

The How

I work in Google Docs and Word. I personally write in Reedsy which recently added a collab feature and am open to trying it out if you work on that platform. I have also edited in Dropbox if any of these platforms do not work for you.

Since I am invested in your creative process and maintaining your voice, I often ask questions about parts of the manuscript to facilitate edits rather than statements on what I would personally do. I also include multiple options or perspectives on parts that may need adjusting in case one of them better suits your taste. In developmental edits, I usually schedule a video call to ask deeper questions and discuss preliminary suggestions.

Developmental edits also receive an editor’s letter that covers plot structure, pacing, character arcs, and other overarching literary principles.

I love darkness, advanced adult themes, grimdark, etc. Basically, I won’t shy away from delving into the not-so-pretty side of life and fantasy.

I also love feel-good and cozy! Both sides of literature are fantastic.

I am not a fantastic fit for analyzing the accuracy of BDSM dynamics or advanced kink dynamics in relationships.

PAST & CURRENT CLIENTS

Abandoned with a reclusive Coven, Ember is an orphaned witch who finds refuge only with her adoptive brother Rhydian. But when betrayal and exile rip them apart, she must navigate a treacherous new realm alone. There she draws the attention of the vampire Prince Aldric, who captures her and offers her protection. The catch? She has to become his Chosen.

As Ember struggles to understand Aldric’s heart and resist the dangers of his world, Rhydian desperately seeks to reunite with her.

But the ruthless King plots to exploit Ember’s powers for domination. Should Rhydian fail to find his sister in time, the vampires’ apocalyptic ambitions may be realized at last.

To save Ember and their world from endless night, Rhydian must rely on wits and newfound friends before the King’s plan comes to fruition. For in his hands, Ember’s magic could bring civilization to its knees.

"KT was a dream to work with... I was a little uncertain about an editor after beta readers and was expecting to have to sift through a lot of feedback to find the gems that were needed most. Short story? I didn't. KT was incredibly thoughtful with every single piece of feedback and took her time to really get to know the book and my heart and goals. She explained her feedback so thoroughly that it was easy to integrate and her suggestions massively improved the book.

10/10 recommend!

Will work with her again!"
